“Mom I think i’m not straight….. I’m a poet”

Those are the words featured in the poetic video I checked out. Does poetry have such power? A power to inspire change? A power to make us see beyond what we see?

I’m afraid I’ll now be a political activist all thanks to TD Poetsome. He’s the person behind the video and here is what I picked up:
Change
There’s a lot of insistence on fighting for rights, stamping out ignorance, thinking rationally about the things that matter such as justice and doing the right thing.
Time to build our nation
The video has clips of icons such as Wangari Maathai and human rights activists such as Boniface Mwangi. This poem calls for us to build our society with the inclusion of people in camps suffering.
I liked the fact that he didn’t hide the things we don’t like talking about.
Questions it raises:
*Are you doing anything about your rights?
*Do you even know your basic rights to begin with? What about basic human rights?
*Are you a true patriot?
Watch the video and feel the spark of change ignited in you…
